Adam Cote Moves To Thermal Energy Storage of Maine, LLC as CEO:
Company’s Technology Part of the Answer to Get Mainers Off Expensive Foreign Oil
Saco, ME – Thermal Energy Storage of Maine, LLC (TESM), the Saco-Maine based company that sells electric thermal storage (ETS) units to heat homes and businesses using lower cost, off-peak electric power, announced today that Adam Cote is transitioning from the Executive Management Team to serve as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
TESM is a two-year old company founded by David Flanagan, Sam Zaitlin, Arthur Adelberg, Adam Cote and Kimball Kenway. The company markets electric thermal storage systems which store lower cost, off-peak electricity as heat. The units contain specially manufactured ceramic bricks which store the heat and then release it as needed throughout the day. Using this technology, a typical home or business is able to lock in a heating price for two years at the equivalent cost of $2.50 per gallon of traditional home heating oil.
“Thermal Energy Storage of Maine has made great strides over the past two years,” said Cote. “I’m confident that we’re about to see widespread adoption of cheap, off-peak electric heat storage as a commonsense answer to expensive, unpredictable heating oil prices – and I am excited to be taking on the job of CEO to help this team make it happen.”
As CEO, Cote will direct all aspects of TESM public marketing and outreach efforts to introduce ETS to Maine, New Hampshire and beyond. He will also work with the Chief Operating Officer and the Chief Financial Officer to meet sales goals.
“Adam has been a part of this team from the outset,” said TESM Founder and Chief Operating Officer Sam Zaitlin. “He is uniquely committed to the idea of insuring that Maine finds a way to end our dependence on foreign oil and we’re happy to have him devote his full time talents to the role of Chief Executive Officer.”
Cote was most recently Senior Vice President of Global Relief Technologies, Inc. (GRT), a software company based in Portsmouth, NH. Prior to working at GRT, Cote served as an energy attorney at Pierce Atwood LLP in Portland, ME where he was a member of the firm’s renewable energy practice group. Cote also has a strong background in public policy having run for Congress in Maine’s First Congressional district in 2008. He is a veteran of Bosnia and Iraq, a Captain in the Maine Army National Guard, a graduate of Colby College and the University Of Maine School Of Law.

ABOUT TESM:
Thermal Energy Storage of Maine LLC (TESM) was established in 2008 to bring Electric Thermal Storage (ETS) technology to Maine. Currently used in 24 states and four Canadian provinces, ETS is an efficient, environmentally friendly technology used to provide space and water-heating in homes and commercial buildings in some of the coldest climates in the United States and Canada.
ETS units are manufactured in the United States by Steffes Corporation, and range in size from single room units which can supplement a home’s existing heating system to ‘furnaces’ which can entirely replace oil or gas fired systems, all the way up to commercial and industrial installations capable of heating apartment buildings, government facilities, including schools and sports complexes, as well as large office complexes.
